Cabrillo College is adding 12 new classes for the spring semester in response to growing demand for high-skill careers. The new offerings include HVAC, drone technology, and winemaking, among other fields. Classes begin Jan. 25, 2027, and combine hands-on coursework with work-based learning to prepare students for jobs or transfer to four-year universities.
The college has designed the schedule with flexibility in mind. Early start and short classes give students options to fit coursework around jobs and other commitments. The new semester classes are aimed at both new and returning students looking to build practical skills quickly.
Counselors recommend that new and current students meet with an advisor before registering to make sure they choose classes that align with their goals. Registration is open now, and interested students can find details through the college's admissions office.
The expansion reflects a broader push to connect community college programs with local workforce needs. Fields like HVAC and drone technology have seen steady demand from employers, while winemaking taps into the region's agricultural strengths. College officials say the hands-on approach is central to the new courses, giving students real experience before they enter the job market or continue their education.
Students are encouraged to register early, as spots in career-focused classes may fill quickly.
