Satellite offices of the Maui County Department of Finance Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing will shut their doors next week to allow for computer and system upgrades, according to an announcement from county officials.
The temporary closures will affect satellite locations while the main Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing office at the Kahului Service Center stays open for regular customer service hours beginning at 8 a.m. Residents who need to complete transactions during the upgrade period are encouraged to visit the Kahului location or use available online services where possible.
Officials said the upgrades are intended to improve system performance and streamline operations for customers once the work is finished. The closure schedule applies to satellite offices only, and normal operations at those sites are expected to resume after the upgrades are complete.
Customers with appointments or pending business at the affected satellite offices should plan accordingly and may need to adjust their visits to the Kahului Service Center. County staff recommend checking office hours and service availability before making the trip to avoid delays.
The department asked the public for patience while the technology improvements are carried out and advised residents to take care of licensing and vehicle registration needs ahead of the closures if their deadlines fall during the upgrade window.
