Enterprise technology provider DXC has entered a partnership with LangChain, the team behind the open source LangGraph agent framework and the LangSmith agent engineering platform. The two companies plan to work together on governed agentic AI aimed at mission critical enterprise IT environments.
The move reflects a broader shift in how large organizations approach automation. Instead of simple scripts or single purpose bots, agentic systems can plan, reason and act across multiple steps, which makes them useful for complex IT tasks such as incident response, system monitoring and workflow orchestration. Those same capabilities also raise questions about control, auditability and safety, especially in environments where downtime carries real cost.
Governance sits at the center of the partnership. The goal is to let enterprises deploy agents that can operate inside strict guardrails, with visibility into what each agent does and why. LangGraph provides a framework for building stateful, multi step agents, while LangSmith offers tooling for testing, tracing and evaluating agent behavior. Combined with DXC's experience running large scale IT estates, the collaboration aims to make agentic AI practical rather than experimental.
The companies did not disclose financial terms or a timeline for specific product releases. The focus for now is on integrating agent engineering practices into enterprise IT operations, where reliability and accountability matter as much as raw capability.
