The Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival wrapped up its milestone 15th year on Saturday with its biggest event yet: the Giant Science and Technology Expo. The free, family-friendly gathering took over the Las Vegas Convention Center, drawing thousands of visitors eager to explore hands-on exhibits and live demonstrations.
Organizers said the expo featured more than 100 interactive booths, covering everything from robotics and virtual reality to biology and space exploration. Local schools, universities, and tech companies set up stations where kids could build simple circuits, test their skills with coding challenges, or watch chemistry experiments up close.
One of the main attractions was a full-scale Mars rover replica, allowing visitors to see how scientists navigate the red planet. Another popular stop offered a chance to pilot a drone through an obstacle course. Festival directors noted that the event aims to spark curiosity in young people and show them that science can be fun and accessible.
The festival ran for two weeks across the valley, with smaller events at libraries, museums, and community centers. Saturday's expo served as the grand finale. Organizers said attendance appeared to be the highest in the festival's history, though final numbers have not been released. They are already planning next year's events.
