The University of Mississippi is pushing forward with its campus modernization efforts, announcing a new wave of technology enhancements set to debut for the 2026-27 academic year. These changes are part of Project Encompass, the university's ongoing initiative to overhaul digital infrastructure and improve the student experience.

Among the key updates are upgraded wireless networks in residential halls and academic buildings, designed to handle higher traffic and support more connected devices per student. The university is also introducing a unified mobile app that will consolidate class schedules, dining menus, campus maps, and emergency alerts into a single interface. Officials say the goal is to reduce the number of separate platforms students currently have to juggle.

Classroom technology is also getting a refresh. Several lecture halls will be equipped with new interactive displays and automated lecture-capture systems, allowing students to review recorded sessions on demand. The university is also expanding its digital signage across campus to provide real-time updates on events, room availability, and transit schedules.

Project Encompass has been rolling out in phases since it was announced, with earlier stages focusing on backend data systems and cybersecurity. The upcoming phase shifts focus to the user-facing side, with an emphasis on accessibility and ease of use.
