SHARP Corporation has entered the wearable health market with the release of the Karada Mate Watch, its first smartwatch designed specifically for health tracking. The device is built around HEALBE Corporation's patented FLOW technology, which allows the watch to automatically estimate both calorie intake and hydration levels.
The Karada Mate Watch represents a shift for SHARP, a company better known for its televisions and home appliances. By integrating HEALBE's sensor technology, the watch aims to give users a more complete picture of their daily health without requiring manual logging of food or water consumption.
HEALBE, based in Redwood City, California, developed FLOW as a non-invasive way to track metabolic data. The technology analyzes changes in the body to provide estimates that typically require users to input information themselves. For SHARP, this partnership allows the company to offer a health device that competes with established fitness trackers while focusing on two metrics often overlooked by standard wearables: what you eat and how much you drink.
The launch signals growing interest from traditional electronics makers in the health technology space. By combining SHARP's manufacturing reach with HEALBE's specialized software, the Karada Mate Watch aims to make advanced health monitoring more accessible to a broader audience.
