EAST HANOVER -- Youssef Galal has earned the Presidential Scholarship at New York Institute of Technology, the university's highest award for incoming first-year students. Galal was one of over 110 students selected for the honor this year.
The scholarship recognizes academic excellence and leadership potential. Recipients are chosen from a competitive pool of applicants across the country. Galal will join a cohort of high-achieving students entering NYIT's six schools and colleges, which offer undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional programs.
The Presidential Scholarship covers a significant portion of tuition and is renewable each year based on academic performance. For Galal, the award represents both financial support and a mark of distinction as he begins his college career. University officials noted that the selection process weighs grades, test scores, extracurricular involvement, and personal essays.
Galal expressed gratitude for the recognition and said he looks forward to contributing to campus life. He plans to explore programs in engineering and computer science. The scholarship not only eases the cost of education but also connects him with a network of fellow scholars and faculty mentors.
NYIT President Hank Foley congratulated all recipients, calling them "the future leaders and innovators who will make a difference in their fields." The university expects to welcome the new scholars this fall.
